Whether you're new to makeup or a seasoned pro, here are some easy tips to guide you through the essentials of mascara selection, application techniques, and lash maintenance. So prepare to bat those lashes with confidence and let's dive into these simple tips!
Choose the right mascara
Select a mascara formula the suites your needs, whether you want length, volume, or curl. Waterproof formulas are great for longevity, but they can be more drying, so reserve them for special occasions.
Here you can find a variety of options as well as my personal favorite, the Ultimate Mascara.
This set is also pretty great and you get 3 different formulas to try! You can find them here.
Replace mascara regularly
Mascara should be replaced every 3-6 months to prevent bacterial buildup and ensure optimal performance. Using old mascara can lead to eye infections.
Clean your mascara wand
Wipe Excess mascara off the wants before applying to avoid clumps and ensure even application. Occasionally washing your mascara wand with soap and water helps to keep it clean too!
Curl your lashes before applying mascara
Using an eyelash curler BEFORE applying mascara can help lift and open your eyes, making your lashes appear longer and more voluminous.
Apply mascara in thin layers
Instead of applying one thick coat of mascara, apply several thin coats allowing each layer to dry in between.
Use lash primer
Applying a lash primer before mascara can help condition and protect your lashes while also providing a base for better mascara adhesion and longevity.
Remove mascara gently
Use a gentle eye makeup remover to take off mascara at the end of the day. Avoid rubbing or pulling on your lashes as this can cause breakage and damage.
I have tried SO many different eye make up removers and NOTHING has been better than this! I am so loyal to this one as is everyone else who has tried it! Find it here.
Don't sleep in your makeup
It’s crucial to remove all traces of mascara and makeup before going to bed. Sleeping in mascara can lead to brittle lashes, clogged pores, and potential eye infections. Cleansing your face and lashes allows them to breathe and regenerate overnight! Here's a great list of cleansers, but for more info, make sure to follow my socials and join my VIP beauty group. Give your lashes a break
Try and go without mascara occasionally to give your lashes a chance to break and recover from the effects of makeup.
Consider a lash serum
If you’re looking to enhance your natural lashes, consider using a lash serum containing ingredients like peptides and vitamins that promote lash grown and strength. Be consistent for best results.
Another case of my favorite serum being discontinued, but I have a couple options for you here and here.
